Town & Gown Theatre is excited to announce its partnership with the Stillwater Public Library in producing “Act 1: Intro to Theater” on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 6-8 p.m. The event will take place at Town & Gown Theatre. The theater is located at 3524 South Perkins Road, just south of the CREC building on the west side of the highway.
The library and local community theater have teamed up a number of times to present educational and entertaining workshops for youth, and they are thrilled to offer another evening of family fun.
The workshop is aimed at children in grades four through seven. The evening will include acting and improv games as well as a chance to raid Town & Gown’s costume closet to get into character for a skit that children create themselves.
Kids and adults will also get a comprehensive tour of the theater and an overview of all areas of theater productions, including acting, directing, producing, stage management, sound and light design, props management, set design and construction, costuming, hair and makeup and more.
Town & Gown Board member Jacob Boyd will co-host the event along with library personnel.
Boyd thinks it is wonderful that the partnership with the library continues to grow.
“Part of our original charter from 1951 includes the mandate to support the arts in our community,” Boyd said. “We can think of no better way to do so than to support our local library and give children the opportunity to learn all about the theater arts.”
