Good morning, Stillwater! We made it. Through Homecoming, some wild and wet weather, and through Nov 5...National Donut Day ;) Welcome to our first email newsletter.
In today’s Lokal Life Letter:
Let’s get right to it.
– Nate Cheever
This weekend, we’re celebrating our first anniversary and re-opening in our new Stillwater location!
Join us for a day of fun with delicious bites from the Tacotento food truck and a bounce house from Stillwater Space Walk for the kiddos. We’re so excited to see everyone and celebrate this milestone together!
🎬 Classic Cinema at the Center is back this Friday at 6 PM. The Stillwater Community Foundation will host a screening of Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, Frank Capra's 1936 classic, at The Stillwater Community Center. I'm a big fan of Frank Capra, especially his It's a Wonderful Life, and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, and this one looks to be right up there. A free classic movie, popcorn, and community charm—what's not to love? Doors open at 6:30 PM.
🙋♂️Auctions for Good: Holy smokes, there's a good deal of auctioning going on right now, and not just for goats and chickens! Thankfully these auctions are easier to understand so you don't accidentally walk away with a cage of roosters. Local artists, government departments and businesses are donating items to the auction to raise money to benefit United Way's 22 nonprofit partner agencies. A noble and creative idea for a great cause!
Here’s a few featured auctions for which you can still bid:
And LOTS more. Bidding closes Sunday November 24. Get ‘em while you can!
Fun Run for the Animals! 🏃♀️🐾
Run around a lake…in the morning…in November!? The lengths we go to for our furry friends!
This Saturday is Stillwater's first annual Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine's 1st Annual Rabies Run/Walk for the Cure. It's just once around Boomer Lake, starting bright and early at 8 AM. Don't worry. That morning chill will go away once you start moving – encouragement to run faster! All proceeds will go to Stillwater Animal Shelter, Stillwater Humane Society, and Tiny Paws Rescue.
Expect some familiar vibes on the race shirts (think "The Office" fans). Plus, there's a raffle with a tasty prize: Olive Garden gift cards up for grabs! Registration: $25/person, online here.
Fifty Nifty Years 🏛️
If you're not heading to the Farmer's Market (below) on Saturday morning, stop by the Stillwater Community Center at 10 AM. Stillwater History Museum is throwing a special celebration for their 50th Anniversary, and everyone's invited! They too will have a silent auction going on. It must be going around.
Proceeds will go toward future Museum projects, so it's all for a great cause. Ticket info here.
SHS Play ‘Stardust’ Announced Yesterday 💫
At first, I thought it was an adaptation of the movie—which would be… interesting. But it’s actually something even better! Don’t miss this comedy, a spoof on the art of acting itself, brought to life by a talented cast of eighteen students: eight seniors, seven juniors, and three sophomores. Maybe you know one of the actors! 👇

Calling All Stillwater Entrepreneurs! 👋 🚀
Maybe you're a business veteran or just kicking off your startup dreams. Either way, this event has something for you. Global Entrepreneurship Week Stillwater is hosting a free networking event on November 20 at 6 p.m. at Backstage Stillwater.
It's a chance to meet fellow go-getters and hear local organizations discuss resources to help your business grow. Food and drinks will be available for purchase while you network, share ideas, and get inspired. You never know what might happen! More info.
And if you’re not sure how to ‘network’, just remember Inigo Montoya’s famous intro formula ⚔:
“Hello.” – Polite Greeting
“My name is Inigo Montoya.” — Introduce yourself
“You killed my father.” — Find a common connection
“Prepare to die.” — Manage expectations
Farmer’s Market Hours Change 🚜🌾👨🌾
Last weekend’s clock shifting was daylight savings. This weekend, the farmer’s market is moving into winter market hours. They will be open on Saturdays, 10 AM -12 PM, at the Prairie Arts Center. Surprisingly (to me, I admit), it looks like they’ll have quite a lot of produce unless you’re in the market for berries and sweet corn.
